Butt to Barra..... and Back! Fundraising for Neuro Hebrides

One week to go until the start of this momentous fundraising event for Neuro Hebrides.

On Friday 18th of August at 9am, Dean Holmes, Nigel Connor and Ken Hammond will leave the Butt of Lewis lighthouse on the Isle of Lewis, and cycle 304 miles over 10 islands, 2 ferries and 6 causeways to reach the Isle of Barra and on to Vatersay. They then do it all again in reverse, and make their way back to Stornoway, finishing at Neuro Hebrides office on Francis street on Wednesday 23rd of August.

They will be supported by Helen Connor-Walton who will drive the route and give essential moral boosts, rest and I'm sure a few sweeties, plasters and coffees!

If anyone would like to come and show their support while they're on this massive challenge, then they would love to see you at the start, the finish and on route.

On day 1 they will cycle from the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, through the Westside of Lewis, then down to Harris, over the Clisham and finish at Lickisto in Harris.

On day 2 they will set off from Lickisto and head to Leverburgh where they will get the Ferry over to Berneray, and then down to Carinish in North Uist.

On day 3 they will cycle from Carinish, through North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay and Barra and Vatersay.

On day 4 they will cycle from Barra back to Carinish.

On day 5 they will cycle from Carinish to Berneray, get the Ferry to Leverburgh and then on to Horgabost.

On day 6 they will cycle from Horgabost to Stornoway where they will complete their massive challenge, finishing at the Neuro Hebrides office, at Third Sector Hebrides on Francis street in Stornoway. They aim to finish approximately 5pm and would love to see you at the finish line.

You can see Helen on route in the support van too. Give her a wave if you see her.

Neuro Hebrides are so overwhelmed and humbled for this truly immense challenge and the money raised will go towards the fantastic work to support people with Neurological conditions in the Outer Hebrides.

We understand that it's a difficult time for a lot of people at the moment, but those who can't help us with a donation can still help by supporting us along the way. They would love to see people either at the start to see us off, or at the finish line, or at the places they pass through along the way.

They have a Facebook page called Butt to Barra and back where you can follow their journey

Neuro Hebrides would like to thank Dean, Ken, Nigel and Helen for their amazing hard work, time, and absolute generosity for what they are doing for Neuro Hebrides.
